It has been a while that we haven’t given you info about our beloved fitness game, so let us tell you what happened. After the great launch on the Vive Focus Plus, we had already started working on the porting to other platforms, because all of you of the communities were asking for it. But then we of New Technology Walkers had some internal restructuring and we also began working on some interesting consultancy projects. We had almost no time to carry on HitMotion, but we promised ourselves to finish its porting to Quest when the projects had finished.
At the end of 2020, we understood that we were always too busy because new consultancy projects kept starting (which is actually very positive news), so we couldn’t just keep waiting for a “pause moment” to finish the game. But we didn’t want to give up, because we really believe in this game and we absolutely want to give it to you of the community. So we started carving some time each week to develop it, and in the end, slowly but steadily, we have finished the first version of the porting to Quest.
But there is much more than that: we understood that we couldn’t just take an AR game from 2019 and build it as a VR game for 2021 because virtual reality has changed so much in this year and a half, so we also made some big changes. We overhauled completely the graphic of the game (thanks to our partners at MID), not only making it perfect for a VR headset, but also giving it a unique style that makes it different from the one of many other VR fitness games. We changed the UI, we changed the controls, we changed the levels, we even changed completely how the VR input is handled internally inside Unity. All of this while keeping intact the HitMotion DNA that you all loved: our game will still give you that satisfying sensation of giving a punch to an object.
We will share some new details with you in the upcoming days. For now, we’ll just tell you that we plan to ship a free demo of the game on SideQuest (while we wait for App Lab approval) on June, 16th. We made the choice of the free demo for two reasons:
- We want people to stay fit while having fun during the lockdown at no cost
- We would like the biggest number possible of people to download the game, play it, and give us feedback, so that we can develop the full version the right way, together with you, if we manage to find the right funds to fulfill our vision.
We are ready to ship the free Demo of HitMotion: Reloaded on June, 16th. We are so happy to give a new life to our game! And you? Are you ready for the fitness battle?
